Continuing ACAR's Diversity Series, in this workshop, the focus is on understanding LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Questioning) population.  In this LGBTQ focused workshop, participants will explore the social and cultural impacts of identifying as LGBTQ in the United States today. This segment of the population are among the most active home buyers and sellers.  As real estate professionals, it is important to all of us that home buyers and sellers are able to find a home that meets their housing needs in the community of their choice.  Key concepts and competences for working with members of these communities will be explored.  Some key concepts explored include gender pronouns, definitions of sexual orientations, explanations of preferred and updated language, as well as statistics regarding the implications of LGBTQ discrimination.  Participants will be better prepared to address biased language and inequities toward the LGBTQ community.  They will finish with increased confidence in their ability to create a library that is respectful, inclusive and affirming for all.  Presented by Heather Smith of the Diversity Center; 1-hour c.e. requested.  Students must have device's camera on throughout the class. Virtual only; no in-person option.
