DeGeeter has made improving residents' quality of life, supporting economic development, repairing the city's infrastructure and preserving public recreational greenspace his top priorities during his administration.DeGeeter embraces his leadership responsibilities with active service. He sits on the executive board of the Ohio Mayors Alliance, serves on the board of the Ohio Municipal League and the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District, and is a member of the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA). He supports the Parma Area Chamber of Commerce and co-founded Parma's Leadership for Tomorrow, a program that partners with Cox Communications and local Parma schools to educate fourth graders about municipal government.Prior to his role as mayor, DeGeeter served in the Ohio House of Representatives. He also was a former Parma Ward 4 councilman, City of Berea assistant municipal prosecutor, City of Avon Lake assistant law director and Parma Bar Association president.DeGeeter adopted at birth, grew up in Mishawaka, Indiana, near South Bend. He attended Holy Cross Junior College and transferred to John Carroll University. He received his bachelor's degree in 1991 and later earned his law degree in 1997 from Clevealdn State University College of Law, where he met his wife, Pam. They have two children, Jack and Molly. Mayor Marie Gallo Marie Gallo brings 18 years of legislative and administrative experience to the residents of Parma Heights. She is currently serving her second term as Mayor of Parma Heights.After graduating from Holy Name High School in 1997, Marie went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Baldwin-Wallace University. She then achieved her Municipal Clerk Certification, enhancing her knowledge of the legislative process and the rules and laws that govern city council. She served as Clerk of Council for the cities of North Olmsted and Parma Heights. She was a Parma Heights council member for over a decade and served four consecutive terms as Council President. She still maintains her Municipal Clerk Certification.In 2016, Marie was promoted to Director of Human Resources for the City of North Olmsted where she assisted with the oversight of over 200 full-time employees and multiple city departments including police, fire, and service. In addition to negotiating labor contracts and advising the Mayor and Directors on personnel issues, she also oversaw the Senior Center, Division of Youth and Family Services, Division of Information Technology, and the Building Department. She served in this capacity until she took office as mayor on January 1, 2022.
